Visiting the Flagler Museum (Whitehall) in Palm Beach: Hours, Tickets, Parking and Tips

When guests ask about a Gilded Age morning on Palm Beach island, I point them to the Flagler Museum at Whitehall. Henry Flagler's 1902 estate is a National Historic Landmark open as a museum — self-guided tours, exhibitions and special programs — an easy bridge crossing from West Palm Beach. Here's what I'd want a friend staying with us to know, checked against the museum's visitor pages in November 2026.
Where it is and parking
The Flagler Museum is at One Whitehall Way, Palm Beach, FL 33480. The phone line is (561) 655-2833. It's easy to reach from I-95 and A1A, just over the Intracoastal from downtown.
Parking is free in the museum's lot during museum hours. Entrances are on Cocoanut Row and Whitehall Way. Accessible parking is near the entrance, with an accessible entrance on the south side.
Without a car, rideshare to Whitehall Way is the practical option. See my guide to getting around West Palm Beach without a car.
Hours
- Tuesday–Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday: 12 to 5 p.m.
- Closed: Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day
Plan on a couple of unhurried hours for the house, grounds and pavilion.

What Whitehall is
When Whitehall was completed in 1902, the New York Herald called it "more wonderful than any palace in Europe, grander and more magnificent than any other private dwelling in the world." Today the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum preserves and interprets Whitehall, Flagler's legacy and America's Gilded Age. This is his Palm Beach estate — not one of his hotels farther down the coast.
Your visit includes the first and second floors of Whitehall, the grounds and the Flagler Kenan Pavilion, home to Flagler's private Railcar No. 91. Expect rooms like the Grand Hall, Music Room and Grand Ballroom, plus upstairs bedrooms and the pavilion. The museum shop on the first floor is open during general admission hours.
Admission also covers free tour options:
- Docent-led tours of the first floor — Tuesday–Saturday at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.; Sundays at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. (limit 35 per tour)
- The free Flagler Museum App (bring your own earbuds) and the museum's free digital guide on Bloomberg Connects
- Self-guide brochures in English, Spanish, German, French and Portuguese
- A printed Tour and Activity Guide for Kids
Visitor guidelines worth knowing
A few house rules that save a wasted trip to the car:
- No food or beverages inside the museum
- Large bags, purses and backpacks of any size are not permitted (stow extras in your locked vehicle — the museum doesn't offer storage)
- Strollers and car-seat-style baby carriers stay in the stroller parking area outside the museum shop, not inside the house
- Personal-keepsake photos are fine in most areas (no flash, tripods or camera supports); formal portrait or occasion shoots need advance permission
Pair it with the rest of Palm Beach island
Whitehall sits well as the morning half of a Palm Beach island day: museum first, then Worth Avenue's vias, the Lake Trail or Midtown Beach. For a second art stop on the mainland, add the Norton Museum of Art or Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens. Wider plans: the first-timers weekend guide and our top attractions list.
Holidays at Whitehall
In mid-to-late December, the museum runs Holiday Evening Tours on December 18–23, 26 and 27 (timed entries; $65 adults / $35 children on the holidays page), plus a seasonal floral installation. For the broader calendar, see our holiday season guide.
On view November 10, 2026–May 30, 2027: America Takes the Stage: From the White City to Whitehall, about how Chicago's 1893 World's Fair shaped Flagler's vision for Florida. Confirm what's up the week you visit on the museum homepage.
A few host tips
- Go on a weekday morning for cooler air and quieter rooms; arrive early enough to catch a docent tour if you want one.
- Travel light. Leave large bags and backpacks in the car.
- Don't confuse Whitehall with Flagler's hotels. This is the Palm Beach estate museum; hotels like the Breakers are separate experiences.
- Build a half-day on the island. Museum morning, Worth Avenue or Lake Trail after lunch.
- Holiday guests: book Holiday Evening Tour tickets early — those dates fill.
- Check the visitor page the morning you go for hours or exhibition notes.
Hours, prices and events can change, so give the Flagler Museum Visitor Information page a quick look before you go. If you're staying with us at West Palm BnBs, reach out here and we'll help you plan the morning — or browse the homes under The BnBs.
